Do I keep my number and WhatsApp?
Yes. The eSIM is for data only. Your own SIM stays in your phone and WhatsApp keeps working with your number. Turn off data roaming for your own number so you do not get charged there.

How WhatsApp works with the eSIM
WhatsApp is tied to your number, not to the SIM the internet runs over. Chats, groups and calls stay as they are. You don't change anything in WhatsApp.
Calls and texts
The eSIM has no phone number of its own. WhatsApp calls go over the eSIM. Normal calls and texts run over your own SIM, and your provider's prices abroad apply to them.
Verification codes by text
Keep the line of your own number switched on, then you keep getting texts such as verification codes from your bank. Only turn off data roaming for your number.
