Turn on data roaming
After landing you switch on one thing: data roaming for the eSIM. Only then does it go online.

After landing
Turn on data roaming for the eSIM. Now your days start.
Why data roaming?
To your phone, the eSIM is a SIM from abroad. That is why it only goes online once data roaming is on for it. It costs nothing extra, you have already paid for your days.
iPhone
- Open Settings, Mobile Service, Mobile Data and choose “Travel”.
- Under “SIMs”, tap “Travel” and turn on Data Roaming.
- Tap your own number and turn Data Roaming off there. That way your provider at home will not charge roaming costs.
Your days start as soon as the eSIM goes online at your destination for the first time.
Android
- Switch mobile data to the eSIM “Travel”. The way is shown for your brand under “Choose mobile data”.
- Turn on data roaming for the eSIM.
- Turn off data roaming for your own number. That way your provider at home will not charge roaming costs.
Data roaming
- Samsung Galaxy
- Settings, Connections, Mobile networks, Data roaming
- Google Pixel
- Settings, Network & internet, SIMs, tap the eSIM, Roaming
- Xiaomi and Redmi
- Settings, SIM cards & mobile networks, tap the eSIM, Data roaming
- Motorola
- Settings, Network & internet, SIMs, tap the eSIM, Roaming
And your own number?
Keep data roaming off for your own number. Then the internet runs over the eSIM, and your provider does not charge you for it.
